June 8–September 16, 2016
This juried exhibition emphasized the importance of scale models in both the creative and technical stages of design development. It featured over 30 study and presentation models from firms and students, representing work-in-progress, finished, and conceptual projects.
“Thank you for organizing the exhibition. Catholic University is always excited
to involve our students in events and programs around DC.”

Title Wall Elevation
The title wall displayed the title, along with the visual identity, and featured a quote by renowned architect Louis Kahn: “A great building must begin with the unmeasurable, must go through measurable means when it is being designed, and in the end must be unmeasured.”
Miso, a typeface created by Mårten Nettelbladt to imitate architectural lettering, was the ideal choice for panels, labels, and pull quotes.
Corrugated cardboard and chipboard—common materials in model-making—served as ideal substrates for the topic and labeling texts, while the postcard highlighted the visual identity, title, and selected models on display.

Objective_
Objective_
Organize a juried exhibition of architectural models on a limited budget.
Approach_
We designed the visual identity as a scale bar next to the exhibition title. IKEA’s LINNMON/LERBERG black-brown tabletop with gray trestle legs supported the models. They were affordable and complemented the gallery’s style. Photos of architectural models, including landmarks like the U.S. Capitol and Dulles Airport, enhanced the submissions on display.
